The jewelry of Art Smith was inspired by many things, but I think it's safe to say that the biggest influence on his work was the artsy, bohemian vibe of Greenwich Village. Greenwich Village where his studio was located, allowed him to flourish but was also home to many different artists and artistic movements that inspired him. Did you miss the post on Art Smith? Check it out here. The Greenwich Village is basically a whiskey sour with egg white and a red wine float. But man is it good. (It should come with a warning label it's so good.) Like any good sour, it's a refreshing mix of sweet, sour, and spirit but the red wine really adds a lovely, spicy note that's perfect for winter. For those of you who are leery of raw egg, you can skip it. The drink is delicious without it. But you're missin' out.The foam is so much fun. The Greenwich Village

  • 1.5 oz rye or bourbon

  • .75 oz. lemon juice

  • .33 oz. simple syrup

  • a few dashes of bitters

  • .5 oz egg white

  • .75 oz red wine

Mix the first five ingredients together in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously. Pour into a glass using the strainer. After you've poured into the glass and let it sit for half a minute or so to build a head, add the red wine float. Then open up your shaker to scoop out the foam that was too thick to be poured and scoop it into the glass. Garnish with lemon.
